For nearly 30 years, our team has been providing quality gourmet foods to Colorado’s Front Range and mountain communities. What started as a small food distribution operation has evolved into a trusted source for premium meats, seafood, and specialty foods delivered directly to customers across the region.

Our Story

Our roots trace back to Horizon Foods, where CEO and owner John Feeney began his career as a sales manager. Within a few years, John had taken ownership of the company and helped grow it into a successful food distribution business serving homes and businesses throughout Colorado.

Although the Horizon corporation declared bankruptcy in 2011, John continued operating independently under the Horizon name. At its peak, the company had 15 trucks on the road, delivering gourmet foods across the Front Range and into Colorado’s mountain towns.

Over time, as grocery stores expanded their offerings and competition increased, the business evolved into a smaller, more focused operation centered around Denver and nearby communities. What never changed was the loyalty of John’s customers. People continued buying from him because he is known for being genuine, reliable, and committed to delivering consistently outstanding food.

A New Chapter

In late 2021, Alex Campbell joined the team after returning from New Zealand, where he had built a successful kombucha brand. Looking for a new challenge, Alex connected with John and shared his vision for modernizing the business with a new brand, updated marketing, and a stronger digital presence.

That collaboration led to the creation of Tonight We Dine, a refreshed brand built on the same great products customers had trusted for decades.

As the business continued to evolve, Alex recognized an opportunity to reach a new generation of customers—young professionals, urban residents with limited freezer space, and people who want convenient access to high-quality proteins without the hassle of traditional grocery shopping.

From that idea, MealMax was born.
